Shade grown coffee in the state of Oaxaca is cultivated in its seven regions:
CAÑADA, COSTA, ISTMO, MIXTECA, PAPALOAPAN, SIERRA NORTE, and SIERRA SUR GORGE ZONE (01), COSTA ZONE (02), ISTHMUS ZONE (03), MIXTECA ZONE (04), PAPALOAPAN ZONE (05), NORTH SIERRA ZONE (06), SOUTHERN SIERRA ZONE (07)

On a 126,820.67 hectare surface. Coffee grown in the State of OAXACA is known as shade grown coffee because it grows under the shade of the largest trees that form part of a jungle or forest region. Coffee plants are part of these communities –ecosystems– that benefit from the goodness the other trees provide: shade, support and the conservation of humidity, leaves that fall to the ground and cover their roots, organic fertilizer, et cetera. Hence, people that cultivate shade grown coffee in OAXACA serve humanity by conserving these ecosystems that provide oxygen, water, and fertilized and humid ground and more.
